I Have Questions
Q. Why should I have a garden when it is so easy to buy food at the supermarket?
A. This question has five answers that are all good.
1. Fresh picked organic produce is substantially better tasting.
2. Fresh picked organic produce is substantially better for you.
3. Gas isn't cheap, supermarkets aren't cheap, and neither is your time.
4. Gardening is a great way to get your family together.
5. Gardens make people happy.
Q. Do I need to do anything to prepare my yard for a garden?
A. No! We build raised beds in your yard, filled with an organic composted topsoil amendment, so don't worry if your yard is covered with leaves, or isn't growing anything yet!
Q. Can you tell me more about composting?
A. Composting refers to the decomposition of organic material. It returns to the ground what originally came from the ground, and serves as the best amendment to soil. Compost is a natural way to retain soil and add nutrients to the soil.
Q. Where do you get your seeds?
A. We select heirloom seeds from local nurseries and from Seeds of Change. "Heirloom" refers to old varieties of plants that evolved naturally or were bred without genetic modification. GMO's (Genetically Modified Organisms) are typically engineered and patented by agro-companies for volume, not quality or nutrition. We choose heirloom varieties because they produce viable seeds, promote biodiversity, taste better, and are more nutritious.
